I came across this video and got a few tips from it:

1. Work with what you have...
Obviously, the film was on a low budget and so the writer/director had to work with his surroundings. It gave the film a more "real" look and you felt like you were there when all the blood shed started happening.

2. Get to the "good stuff" right away...
An interesting story is made by getting to the action quickly, don't stall with all these conversations that have nothing to do with it.

3. Writing/Script
Good script, conversations were real and not straight out from one of Shakespeare's plays. Make it short, lively and something that we can all relate too, for instance fear.

  1. I'm glad you've found some student videos to give you an idea of shorter works. I think the Academy Award nominated short films are coming to the MFAH soon also.

    But my question is...are you going to write a play or a script? Two very different things?
