Research

I've have taken the initiative to apply for a theatre program. This will be my chance to learn more about writing, acting and all the other work that goes in producing a live performance.

Connection. Amulya, the new intern, has put me in contact with a woman from the Hobby Center who allowed my class and a couple of others to sit in and watch "Hairspray" for free. Also, I have a good friend at Rice University who took theater courses last year and is more than willing to share information.

I am going to approach my project by first writing the entire story down; which is almost complete. Then I am going to extract parts of it that deem worthy to be performed into a play. This is how most plays start out: a story. William Shakespeare didn't just writing the parts out for Romeo, Juliet; he had to have the story written all out first before anything. Second, the play needs a theme. What's mine? It's quite simple; The theme is beauty. It's the beauty every girl processes even if they can't see it themselves. My sister grew up being teased because she was always "slightly overweight" and it led to her to be an anorexic all throughout highs school until she met "a special someone" who liked her for her and not her looks.

Thank you.

  1. It seems that things are going pretty well for you so far. I'm happy that you have contacts who are willing to help you in any way possible. I find it really interesting that you are going to conduct a live performance. That takes a lot of work, time and commitment but I believe you'll do an outstanding job. WIll you be in the performance? Will you have a set time for the play? How will you get the crops? Also if you need actors for the play you should ask members from the drama club to help out. I am from drama and I'll be willing to help out with this play if you need me to.

  2. Hey lore, I admire your ambition to not only research different aspects of your project topic, but actually try to get involved and put your work out there. Your begining to be my motivation because I see it as if Lore isn't shy or nervice, then why should I be shy with showing grown ups my music. Other then my admiration, is program like a class that you will just take notes and show some one your play? Or are you going to pick out actors and cast your play to a small audience? Ohter then that I agree with you because even the biggest rappers today started from the bottom just by showing people their music and did just as you will be doing in a way. Good luck Lore.
